International Students Club
 Hey and welcome to the web page of the International Students
Club at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam. It's our first time to
have our own web page and we are quite excited about it. It gives
us a great opportunity to let people out there know whom we are,
what's happening with us, what activities we are involved in and
also it keeps us in touch with those who have graduated and left
us, but are near to our hearts.
We are an association representing over 25 nations
in the world from as far as the tiny island of Dominica in the
Caribbean to
the Eastern European country of Kosovo, Mainland China and
even neighboring Malaysia. We are one diverse group of people…I
can tell you that! We speak different languages, have differing
faiths,
and have varying ways of life, but we have one main bond! We
are all students at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Some for just
a few
months, others up to five (long??) years!
So please don't hesitate to learn more about us

History of ISC
From the time UBD opened its doors in 1985, there were already
two international students (from Maldives!). Although ISC wasn't
born at that time, there was always a need for international students
to organize themselves. The first memory of a specialized body
looking after the affairs of international students must have been
in 1994/1995 period when there was a special office just for international
students and there was also the association for International students,
at that time, it was referred to as the International Students
Association (ISA).
Since then, the ISC (changed 2 years ago when we were placed
under PMUBD) has had 4 presidents. However since ISC is a club,
most of the members put in valuable service and resources to keep
it running through the years.
Some of the greatest achievements of ISC have been: the Sultan's
visit to the exhibition in 2000, A Successful International Night
2002, Annual Sports Day, Tour of Brunei's main attractions (2002)
among many others which you will see and read of as you read on!!
Executive
This September, the members of the International students elected
a new executive, and the old committee which had done a great job
(bravo guys!!) handed the mettle over to the new execs!

President: Due to circumstances beyond our control, the voted president could
not continue his tenure so look at this spot for the fresh reelections!!

Plans
Although new, the new executive has to jump right in there tackling
the issues that they see necessary to improve the lives of students
here at UBD and also to plan fun activities that will help develop
the feeling of camaraderie and unity among international students
as well as helping them discover and appreciate Brunei's unexpected
treasures and to intermingle with Bruneians.

Persatuan Pelajar Antarabangsa
Hai! Selamat datang ke laman web Persatuan Pelajar Antarabangsa
di Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Ini adalah kali pertama kami mempunyai
laman web sendiri dan kami sangat bersemangat mengenainya. Ia memberi
peluang yang sangat baik kepada kami untuk memperkenalkan kepada
orang ramai tentang persatuan ini, situasi-situasi yang kami alami,
aktiviti-aktiviti yang dijalankan dan ia juga sebagai satu cara
untuk kami berhubung dengan pelajar-pelajar yang telah menamatkan
pengajian serta telah meninggalkan kami, tetapi mereka sentiasa
di dalam hati.
Persatuan Pelajar Antarabangsa ini adalah satu persatuan yang
dianggotai lebih kurang 25 buah negara di seluruh dunia dari tempat
yang jauh iaitu pulau kecil Dominica di Carribean hingga ke Eropah
Timur iaitu Kosovo, Tanah Besar China dan negara-negara jiran Malaysia.
Kami adalah satu kumpulan yang terdiri daripada pelbagai bangsa.....!Saya
beritahu kamu bahawa kami bercakap dalam bahasa yang berlainan,
berlainan kepercayaan , dan cara hidup yang berbeza, namun kami
mempunyai ikatan yang utama! Kami semua adalah pelajar-pelajar
di Universiti Brunei Darussalam, di Brunei, Asia Tenggara.
Jadi, janganlah teragak-agak untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang
kami semua dan aktiviti-aktiviti kami, dan bebas untuk email kami
di isc@hep.ubd.edu.bn!

Presently
Right about now, UBD is in the exam season, that's the time when
all fun and jalan-jalan(strolling about) is put aside and work
gets serious. Good Luck to all ISC members in their studies, with
God's graciousness and with hard work and dedication, the results
ought to be favorable. At this time too, Ramadhan (the holy month
of fasting) is on here in Brunei.
We also want to wish those who are going back home during Hari
Raya and Christmas to be with their families a safe journey and
an enjoyable holiday. See you in the Semester II, 2003 refreshed
and ready to work!
For those who will be staying here, we expect
that you will enjoy looking at movies, visiting Gadong, BSB and
taking advantage of
the Brunei Grand Sale. So, whatever you do…enjoy it! This is
university life and it only lasts for a brief period, so make
the most of
it.
