Dr. Piyasiri Ekanayake (BSc, MSc, PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in Physics at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). He obtained his PhD in Physics from Martin-Luther-University, Halle, Germany in 2000. Prior to the PhD, Dr. Ekanayake worked in the Institute of Non-Metallic Materials at ETH-Zurich, Switzerland, as a Guest Student (from 1994 to 1996). He has obtained his MSc (in 1996) and BSc (in 1992) in Physics from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.

During the period 2002 to 2011, he was attached to the Department of Physics, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka as a Senior Lecturer and as a Professor in Physics.

Dr. Ekanayake has obtained Research Fellowships from University of Leeds, UK (from 2000 to 2001) and University of Surrey, UK (from 2005 to 2006) to work on Soft Condenced Matter Physics. His research interests are in the areas of Solid Polymer Electrolytes, Organic Photovoltaics and Dye Sensitized Solar Cells.
