Development Services
Policy and procedures
ETC provides advice on policy developments in the area of educational
technology and instructional design. This includes developments
in the application of video, audio, multi media, graphics, photography
and communications technology to the teaching and learning process.
Advice is also provided on procedures to manage the development
of teaching and learning resources using the full range of educational
technologies.
In addition, ETC evaluates audio-visual hardware on behalf of
departments and faculties and prepares technical specifications.
Educational Technology Workshops & Seminars
ETC staff conduct workshops for academic staff in how to use
educational technology in teaching. Topics include how to:
- use video in education and training
- plan and produce a video or audio program
- explore new educational media
- use video and audio conferencing in a flexible delivery program
- use multi media in education and training.
Workshops are conducted on an occasional basis as well as on
request. They are designed to suit the needs of the clients.
In addition seminars and public lecturers are organised regularly
on topics concerned with the application of technology in education
and training.
Instructional design
Instructional design assistance is provided in a range of areas
concerned with the design and development of teaching and learning
processes and materials:
- choice of educational media
- design of teaching material for maximum effectiveness
- use of activities in teaching and learning
- flexible delivery
Research
ETC staff conduct research in the area of educational technologies
and their application to education and training. Such research
includes investigation of the use of multi media and communication
technologies.
ETC also promotes collaborative research with other Universities
through the use of communication technologies.
Advice on the latest research material in the area of educational
technology is available on request.
Consultancy
Staff are available to undertake consultancies with UBD staff
as well as other universities.

Information Dissemination
The Centre publishes an occasional newsletter on current topics
and issues in educational technology to keep you up to date.
These are sent in the internal mail.
