The functions of the ETC are:
- to provide the University with central advisory, information
and consultancy services for the design of learning systems
and their environment,
- undertake purchase and maintenance of media equipment including
the preparation of technical specifications and evaluation
of hardware;
- to provide campus media services, equipment loans, first
line maintenance of approved equipment and classroom support
services;
- to provide facilities for the application of educational
technology and for the production of transparencies, and
audio and video recording. The ETC also collaborates with
academic and administrative staff in fostering the development
and use of educational technology.
The other functions of the Educational Technology
Centre are to contribute relevant courses within the University
as required by the various faculties and to work with other academic
support services to promote improved methods of teaching and
learning as well as to conduct research into the role of media
and communication technologies in the teaching and learning process.
