FOREIGN EXCHANGE TRADING:
ISLAMIC & CONVENTIONAL PERSPECTIVES

Introducing a new approach to understanding foreign exchange from both Islamic and conventional perspectives

7-9 AUGUST 2007
21-23 AUGUST 2007

THE FACILITATOR

Mr. Omar Mohd Dali has a Master’s degree in Accountancy and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Australia and the United States respectively.  He has spent almost 15 years working as a currency and treasury trader, actively trading in the currency and treasury markets.  He has seen, first hand, several currency turmoils including the regional currency crisis of 1998 when he was a Treasury manager responsible for Treasury balance sheet, foreign exchange and interest rate exposure management.

He later became an audit manager where he managed a risk-based assessment and audit on financial, market risk, operational risk and compliance for both conventional and Islamic entities in a financial institution.

As a trainer, he has trained many traders and auditors and has presented several workshops on   managing currency risk for Asia Business Forum in Singapore and several other organisations.     During his stint with an international treasury system and consultancy company, he was a Senior Consultant providing consultancy and project management on Treasury in Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Singapore and Australia for both conventional and Islamic treasury.

Since undertaking independent treasury and banking consulting, he has provided consultancy and training services to several institutions in Brunei Darussalam and Kuala Lumpur in areas pertaining to treasury, investment, banking assets and liabilities management, banking risk management, financial markets and audit.  His main strength as a trainer lies in verbal and presentation skills that clarify technical concepts and practices often confused by jargon and mystique that encourages the relaxed, active participation of workshop attendees.
