Q: Who are the lecturers who conduct the Minor Programme?
A: A majority of the Programme is conducted by lecturers from the Centre for Islamic Banking, Finance and Management. You may view the details of the lecturers in our People section. For certain courses, lecturers from other faculties within the University may conduct the relevant lectures.
Q: I have done some of the courses in my previous University/Institution. Can I forgo those courses?
A: Application to forgo courses based on previous qualifications will require consideration from the Centre. You will need to inform the Centre and we will consider your eligibility accordingly.
Q: Is it possible to see my respective lecturers outside the teaching hours?
A: Yes, lecturers set aside certain office hours for students to seek their assistance or when clarification is needed. These hours are normally either posted outside their door or informed at the beginning of the semester.
Q: What happens if a student fails a course?
A: If a student fails a course in the first sitting, the student would be allowed to sit for another examination, a supplementary exam. If the student fails this second examination, the student has to repeat the course. However, if the student fails the same course over two consecutive semesters, the student will not be able to continue the programme.
Q: What happens if a student passes the supplementary exam?
A: A student who passes the supplementary exam will obtain a ‘Grade E’ irrespective of the actual grade in the supplementary exam.
Q: Will the Minor Programme help me get a good job?
A: Yes, we believe it will. Information on our previous students can be found at the UBD Alumni page.
Q: How can I find more details about the programme?
The University holds a ‘Study at UBD’ day once a year (usually in February) where you can talk to our staff regarding the Minor programme.
