Production of petrochemicals from natural gas

Natural gas is one of the major resource found in Brunei Darussalam. This research focusses on processing natural gas into more valuable petrochemical products such as syn-gas, alcohols, ketones, epoxides etc. By using advances materials such as nanoparticles as catalysts, these processes can be achieved with high activity and selectivity, thus maximising their efficiency. The scope of this research also covers the modification of these nanocatalysts, through geometric or electronic modifications by various synthesis techniques, to ensure the maximum efficiency is achieved. Therefore, the data obtained from these studies will contribute towards the fundamental aspect of the surface science in the catalysts.
