TITLE: Mitral Valve Repair - 'Repair for the Future'
INTRODUCTION
Despite the advancement of medicine we are still threatened with valvular heart disease especially in this region where rheumatic valvular disease still presents significant morbidity and mortality. The last 20 years have shown us that mitral valve repair is much superior to a replacement. However, the complexity of the lesions and repair have led to many clinicians to shy away from doing a mitral valve repair.It is hope that this brief workshop will show you the essential tools and surgical techniques that are required to improve the success of a mitral valve repair and thus helping thousands in this region especially, for a better life.
