The Institute of Medicine of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam was established in September 2000, in line with the vision of the Government of Brunei Darussalam to provide medical training to students from Brunei and neighbouring countries.  The Institute also aims to promote medical research through collaboration between universities and research institutions within the ASEAN region and overseas, thereby supporting UBD’s vision to become a “First Class University with a Distinctive National Identity”.

I am pleased to inform you that the Institute of Medicine, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, will host the annual Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei Darussalam (MIB) Medical Science Conference 2007 on 28-29 July 2007 at the Rizqun International Hotel, Brunei Darussalam.  The upcoming 2007 conference with the theme ‘Identifying Regional Priorities in Health Research’ will be co-organized by Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Universiti of Indonesia.  In conjunction with the MIB Medical Science Conference 2007, a one-day pre-conference workshop will also be held on 27 July 2007 at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

The MIB Medical Science Conference 2007 aims to identify regional priorities for health research, promote regional collaboration in teaching and research, and provide a forum for presenting and discussing research findings.

We invite members of medical teaching and research institutions in the region to participate in this year’s conference. Presentations from students and young scientists are particularly encouraged. There is a significant reduction in the registration fee for accredited students.

We look forward to welcoming you to Brunei Darussalam, “The Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures” and invite to stay on after the conference to enjoy the sights of the country.
