UBD Hosts French Michelin Star Chef

French Michelin Star Chef Arnaud Tabarec delighted the crowd at the Sunken Courtyard of PAPRSB Institute of Health Science, giving insights on preparing his favourite dishes as part of the French Gastronomic Week co-organised by the Embassy of France in Brunei Darussalam and Alliance Francais.

Present at the live cooking and food tasting event were His Excellency Christian Ramage, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam, and UBD Vice Chancellor, Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz. Also in attendance were principal officers, staff and students of UBD.

Chef Tabarec was accompanied by two chefs from Simpur Herbal Cafe as he whipped up two of his specialties; Eggs with Mushroom and Brioche in his grandmother's style. He took the opportunity to share with the audience tales of his experience, sprinkling kitchen tips and tricks for aspiring chefs in the crowd while educating them on French cuisine. Those who were present even had the chance to taste the freshly made dishes.

Arnaud Tabarec runs the kitchen of the Roof Restaurant at Five Seas Hotel in Cannes. At 36-years old, the Michelin Star-awarded chef is considered one of the most talented chefs of his generation. His amazing culinary career has taken him through kitchens in Michelin-starred restaurants such as Lameloise in Chagny, Auberge des Templiers in Bezards, Auberge du Viweux Puits in Fonjoncouse and La Galupe in Urt among many others.

The French Gastronomic Week in Brunei Darussalam is held from 31st October to 3rd November 2018 and consists of several events in different venues including the Residence of the French Ambassador, Alliance Francais, culminating with French culinary art and French Art de vivre at the Radisson Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan. In conjunction with the French Gastronomic Week, Simpur Herbal Cafe in UBD will also be serving French dishes from 10th to 17th November 2018.
