"21st Century Learning Design" Workshop

Academic

The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC, UBD) will be organising the following workshop during the semester break:

"21ST CENTURY LEARNING DESIGN"

Facilitator
Dr Jainatul Halida binti Jaidin

Abstract
The 2-hour workshop will focus on the tools and framework of 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD) established by a multinational SRI-led research program called Innovative Teaching and Learning Research (ITL Research). In this workshop, participants will work together using research-based definitions, rubrics, and lesson examples to design instruction that supports students in building skills in the following areas: collaboration, knowledge construction, skilled communication, real-world problem-solving and innovation, use of ICT for learning, and self-regulation. The framework and tools are rooted in decades of learning sciences research on how teaching strategies can enable meaningful learning and deeper understanding of subject matter. SHBIE in collaboration with the Ministry of Education partnered with SRI International in 2013 to launch the 21st Century Teaching and Learning (21CTL) research project in Brunei Darussalam. To date, more than 150 teachers from various discipline and level of schooling in Brunei have participated in the 21CTL professional development program.
