4th Annual Academic Session 2009
The Institute of Medicine of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, which pioneers undergraduate and postgraduate education in Health Sciences in Brunei Darussalam, is holding its fourth Annual Academic Sessions on Saturday and Sunday, 10th and 11th October 2009.
The Institute invites presentations from all health-related professionals and scientists. Papers will be categorized as biomedical sciences, community health, medicine, surgery, nursing or health sciences education. The presentations will report novel findings of interest to the health sector in Brunei and elsewhere.
They will be of 15 minutes duration followed by 5 minutes of discussion. An abstract of the proposed presentation, not exceeding 250 words, concisely outlining the background of the work, the methodology and materials used, the findings as well as the significance of the findings in the context of existing knowledge, should be submitted not later than Saturday, 1st August 2009. Exceptional papers will be presented with an award.
Authors are also invited to submit the content of their presentations as full papers for consideration for publication in the Brunei Darussalam Journal of Health in 2009. The Journal and Guide to Authors are available on the UBD website (www.ubd.edu.bn).

Abstract may be submitted in Microsoft Word format with the Registration form by 1st August 2009 to the Institute of Medicine by email at aas.im@im.ubd.edu.bn
For participants not submitting papers, the deadline for registration is 15th September 2009.
The registration fee is waived for authors who will be speaking at the sessions. For all other participants, including non-presenting co-authors who wish to attend the sessions, the registration fee will be BND$25 inclusive of lunch and refreshments.
An exhibition by medical and laboratory suppliers will also be held at the sessions.
