Main Theme"Transnational Culture and Economic Impact of Hallyu"BackgroundThe Korea Forum is one of two collaborative projects between the SEASREP Foundation, which aims to promote Southeast Asian studies in the region by Southeast Asians and is based in Manila, and KISEAS (Korean Institute of Southeast Asian Studies), an organization of Korean academics who specialize on Southeast Asia. The Korea Forum takes place biannually in a Southeast Asian country and examines an issue relating to Korea that is of interest to Southeast Asians. The second collaborative activity focuses on Southeast Asia and is designed as an advance seminar for Korean and Southeast Asian doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences.
ObjectiveThe Korea Forum aims to advance mutual understanding between Korea and Southeast Asia and establish an institutional basis on which regional cooperation and integration can be facilitated. The Forum serves as a venue where scholars and experts of Korea and Southeast Asia freely exchange their knowledge and opinions on issues of mutal interest relating to Korea. Through this gathering, Korean and Southeast Asian scholars can hopefully build network for future collaboration. | |
