3.1 |
MATURE APPLICANTS |

The Senate Admissions Committee may admit an applicant to a first degree programme of the University as a mature applicant if the candidate: |

1) |
has attained at least 25 years of age on the date of his admission to the degree programme, |
| |
2) |
has taken the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination or equivalent examination and has obtained one of the following: |
| |

 |
a credit 6 or better in Bahasa Melayu if he is applying to enter a Malay medium degree programme, or |
| |
|
|
a credit 6 or better in Bahasa Melayu and at least a pass in English Language or in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or an IELTS score of 5.0 if he is applying to enter B.A. (Malay medium) or B. A. Major in Brunei Studies, or |
| |
|
 |
a credit 6 or better in English Language or a grade ‘C’ or better in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or an IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL minimum overall score of 550 if he is applying to enter B.A. (English medium and bilingual) programmes, or |
| |

a credit 6 or better in English Language or a grade ‘C’ or better in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or an IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL minimum overall score of 550 if he is applying to enter an English medium degree programme. If he is applying to enter a B.A (Education) programme with major in TESL, an IELTS score of 6.5 is required. If he is applying to enter Bachelor of Business Administration, B.A (Economics) and B.A (Accounting and Finance) programmes, a credit 6 or better in Mathematics is required. If he is applying to enter B.A (Public Policy and Administration) programme a pass in Mathematics is required and if he is applying to enter B.A (Primary Education) programme, a pass in Mathematics and a science subject (Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Combined Science) are required; or |

normally has taken the GCE 'A' Level or equivalent examination and has obtained at least one' A' Level pass or equivalent in a subject which is relevant to the degree programme to which admission is sought, except for programme offered by Academy of Brunei Studies which requires at least one ‘A’ Level at grade ‘C’ or better; and |

after taking the GCE examination the candidate has normally had not less than five years of experience in an occupation which is relevant to the degree programme. However a minimum of three years experience in area of education may be considered for admission to Degree programmes offered by SHBIE. |
| 3.2 |
APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND CLOSING DATE |

3.2.1 |
a) |
Application forms can be obtained from the Admission and Students Records Section, First Floor, Administration Building, Universiti Brunei Darussalam at the rate of B$5.00 per set.. |
| |
|
b) |
Completed forms must be accompanied by certified copies of certificates and other relevant documents. |
| |
3.2.2 |
Government officers must submit their application forms through their respective Heads of Departments / Sections / Units, to reach the Admission and Student Records Section before 14th February 2008. |

3.2.3 |
Applicants from the Private Sectors must submit their application form through their respective Heads of Departments / Companies, to reach the Admission and Student Records Section before 28th February 2008 |

3.2.4 |
All other applicants must submit their application forms to the Admission and Students Records Section before 28th February 2008.
Pre-service applicants for undergraduate programmes are required to submit the application form between 19th – 28th January 2008 at Male Hostel Hall, UBD. |
