Master of teaching

This leading edge Master of Teaching (MTeach) degree will provide prospective teachers with a professional qualification for entry to the teaching profession. Based on the disciplinary knowledge and critical analytic skills of graduate entry students, the MTeach degree prepares teachers to make a real difference in the classroom. This innovative programme links theory and practice to provide powerful insights into learners and the teaching process. With a deep understanding of what and how students learn, and confidence to innovate, teachers will be ready to take the first step on a rewarding career path to the top of the profession.

Normal entry requirements for the programme are;

 

  1. A good honours degree (at least second class lower) or equivalent from a recognised university.
  2. Evidence of excellent English communication skills at the level of, at least, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 600.
  3. For the Primary and Early Childhood Education streams, an applicant must have, in addition, at least GCE 'O' level 6, in English, Mathematics and a Science subject.
  4. For the Secondary and Vocational and Technical Education streams, the applicantʼs undergraduate studies must be relevant to the choice of subject specialisation such as a Major and Minor in the chosen Learning Areas.
  5. Successful performance in an interview.
