2.2 Master Degree

General Entry Requirements:

The minimum requirement for Masters Degree Programmes is normally a relevant Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent from institutions recognised by the University Senate.

Applicants who do not posses a Second Class Honours Degree may be considered, provided they have an undergraduate degree, some relevant working experience and posses other academic or professional qualifications deemed suitable and equivalent for the purpose of admission to the programme.

For entry to English medium masters degree programmes, applicants must be able to show English Language proficiency and those who do not have an English medium undergraduate degree qualification must normally have at least a credit 6 in English Language at GCE ‘O' Level Examination or a grade C in IGCSE English (as a First Language) or an IELTS score of 6.5 (obtained within the last 5 years) or TOEFL minimum overall score of at least 550 .

Currently various masters programmes by research are available. Interested applicants can get details of the programmes offered from the following :

Masters programmes by research are either 1 to 2 years full-time or 2 to 4 years part .

Note :

Applications for masters programmes by research can be submitted to the University at any time of the year. Interested applicants are advised to consult the relevant department in the Faculty / Institute / Academy to discuss the proposed research proposal before making a formal application.

Masters programmes by coursework / coursework and dissertation / coursework and project.

92	-	Master of Business Administration (MBA by coursework) - (1½ years full-time or 2½ years part-time). In addition to the general entry requirement, applicants for MBA programme must also have minimum 3 years working experience.

388	-	Master of Health Policy and Management by Coursework.

115	-	Master of Arabic Language by coursework and dissertation - Applicants must have obtained a Second Class Honours degree or “Jayyid” in the relevant discipline. - The University Admissions Committee may require applicants to sit and pass an Arabic Language test.

Notes:	1)	All Masters programmes offered by FASS, FBEPS and SHOASIIS are either 1 to 2 years full-time or 2 to 4 years part-time.
	2)	M. Ed. programmes (by coursework / project) and Sarjana Pendidikan (secara kerja kursus / projek) commence in January. The advertisement for these programmes will be published in September / October each year.
