BSc Biotechnology is an articulation programme with University of Windsor, Canada. Students are required to complete their first two (2) years in UBD and the last two (2) years in the joint University. Only eligible students will be transferred to University of Windsor. The degree is awarded by University of Windsor.
BEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering was introduced in August 2006 and BEng (Hons) Petroleum Engineering will be introduced in August 2008. The four-year Engineering Degrees (BEng) are articulation programmes with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia whereby students complete their first year at Engineering Science Department, UBD and the following three years in UNSW where they attend courses run by the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering. The degree is awarded by UNSW.
BEng (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) is an articulation programme with the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Students are required to complete their first two (2) years in UBD and the last two (2) years in the joint University. Only eligible students will be transferred to University of Glasgow. The degree is awarded by University of Glasgow.
BSc Geology & Petroleum Geology was introduced in August 2007. This is an articulation programme with University of Aberdeen, UK. Students are required to complete their first two (2) years in UBD and the last two (2) years in the joint University. Only eligible students will be transferred to University of Aberdeen. The degree is awarded by University of Aberdeen.
Other undergraduate programmes which are offered by Faculty of Science are BSc Applied Physics, BSc Biological Science, BSc Chemistry, BSc Mathematics and BSc Computer Science. These are four-year honours degree programmes which are awarded by Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Besides undergraduate programmes, each department, except Engineering Science Department, offers MSc and PhD programmes. MSc programmes are offered either by coursework & project or by research. PhD programmes are offered only by research. Please note that further details on the arrangements of programmes can be obtained from the Faculty of Science Office.
All undergraduate programmes under Faculty of Science have a recognition, that learning at university-level should be more than a mere compilation of facts; staff tries to instill the students with an enquiring mind and an appreciation of the scientific methods through a variety of teaching styles. The Faculty aims to produce graduates who are not only well-trained in their scientific and mathematical disciplines but who have also developed the intellectual curiosity to maintain a life-long interest in science and applied science.
Apart from its purely educational and training functions, the Faculty of Science also seeks to contribute to the development of Brunei Darussalam by establishing links with government and private organisations to undertake research and consultancy work to promote national development. Staff in the Faculty has a wide range of expertises, which is supported by an extensive suite of modern equipments, allowing sophisticated and elaborate research to be conducted.
