MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY (MPP)

Beginning with the academic year 1991/92, the Department of Public Policy and Administration has offered a postgraduate programme of study leading to the Master of Public Policy.  This interdisciplinary programme is designed to meet the advanced training needs of officers in the Brunei Civil Service as well as other interested persons who are interested in a professional career in the public sector or pursuing a post-graduate education is this field.  In particular, the programme is intended to help satisfy the demand for specialist professional administrators and meet government requirements for staff development and upgrading.

This programme is intended primarily to meet demands of the public service for professional training and in public sector management and policy-making. It involves developing an understanding of the nature of public administration, the context of policy-making, the processes of policy analysis, and the important role of policy communication and managerial skills. Research skills are promoted through a specialist course and the completion of a case study. Students are able to specialize in a policy area, including social, economic, environmental, technological and foreign policies through their selection of optional courses. Students can take this programme either as a full time or part time basis.

All courses for the Master of Public Policy programme are conducted in English.
