MASTER OF ISLAMIC BANKING AND FINANCE (MIBF)

Beginning with the academic year 2006/2007, the Faculty is introducing a new postgraduate programme in the field of Islamic banking and finance under the Islamic Banking, Finance and Management Unit (IBFMU).

To complement the development in the Islamic banking industry and the Islamic financial sector in the country and the region, the IBFMU has designed a programme that would service the manpower needs of this industry. In today’s rapidly changing global environment, the workforce has to be skillful and responsive to the marketplace demands and customer needs. The Master of Islamic Banking and Finance (MIBF) is designed to cater to the Islamic banking needs in particular and the needs of the banking industry, in general. The student will be able to understand Islamic banking and finance while at the same time will acquire knowledge of the conventional banking system.

The programme is to provide students with a sound understanding of the concepts and practices of Islamic banking and finance, both locally and globally. The Shariah principles related to the area of finance and banking will be explored in order to allow analysis of the religious aspects of the finance and investment products. The programme will also provide students with a detailed knowledge of risk analysis and regulatory issues as well as international trade and investment.
