In response to the need to continue
the teaching of History in English at Secondary
School level in Brunei Darussalam, the Department
of History welcomes the University decision (Vice-Chancellor's
letter - Ref: UBD/CAN-226 E (107) of 8 January
1994) to re-initiate the B.Ed. programme in English,
in place of B.A. Pendidikan, beginning from the
1994/1995 academic year.
Such a B.A. Ed. programme, existed from 1987,
but was discontinued - like B.A. History programme
- in 1992. In the light of the re-introduction
of the B.A. Ed History Programme, the Department
must review the courses presently offered under
the B.A. Pendidikan programme to suit the changing
needs of the Department, the University, as well
as the Ministry of Education, which is the principal
employer of our graduates.
