History

The establishment of Academy of Brunei Studies was announced by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam after his consent (titah perkenan) during His 44th Birthday Celebration Speech in Daerah Tutong on Tuesday, 17th July, 1990. The Academy will act as a center of study of all aspects of Brunei's life which is in line with its rich tradition and history that are known by all Bruneians by utilizing the existing experts in several fields of studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam in cooperation with local scientists and intellectuals. These fields include Language, Religion, Literature, History, Culture, Economics, Education, Management, Public Policy, Natural Science and Geography.
